Now we know it’s only Spring, but Summer is ONE MONTH away.

The Vida Glow team can’t wait for our Australian Summer, so we thought we’d give you our

Top 5 Tips to get you Ready for Summer.

 1) Up Your Water + Collagen Intake

The key to glowing skin is hydration. So this November aim for 2L a day. If this is daunting, then start small, 1L to 1.5L to 2L. You can do it!
The most abundant substance in the human body is water, in second place is collagen. Our skin looks good when it’s hydrated. Hydration allows our skin to feel smooth and look plump. To aid hydration make sure you’re adding a serving of Vida Glow’s marine collagen to your glass of water. As summer is on the way, why not try our tropical flavoured Pineapple Vida Glow marine collagen blend. It’s naturally sweetened with Stevia and comes with the added goodness of dried pineapple juice powder with a boost of Vitamin C and antioxidants.

Pineapples are now in season in Australia and we recommend adding this delicious fruit to your diet. Pineapples come with high water content for hydration and a wealth of nutrients that are particularly beneficial for your skin, including; folate, beta carotene, B6 fibre, potassium, manganese and a single serving of this fruit has more than 130% of the daily requirement of vitamin C. Vitamin C is a super vitamin for hair, skin and nails as it assists in the production of collagen in the body.

On another note, avoid sugary drinks, too much caffeine and limit your alcohol intake this month. Make water your go-to drink. The end of the month and December in general will have you over indulging in festivities so make a mental note to set good habits in the lead up to Summer.

 2) Set Intentions

Speaking of making a mental note… Set some intentions!

If you want to stay on track with your Bikini Body fitness and diet regime for summer, you need an action plan to get you there. Pencil in… NO actually pen in... your exercise times in the diary, make meal plans and prepare your lunch the day before.

Also ask yourself what are your body goals and use visualisation to keep you motivated. Cut out your favourite bikini, but don’t purchase it until you’ve stuck to your diet and fitness plan for at least 3 weeks.

 3) Get Moving

“I really regret that workout” …. Said No One, EVER!

There’s no miracle cure. If you want to whip yourself into shape, you need to get active. Keep it diverse enough so that you don’t get bored. Try weight training, it doesn’t have to be complicated, body weight exercises like lunges, squats, sit ups, tricep dips and planks. If you’re a newbie, then book in a PT session to help you get started. Yoga is a great way to get toned, so join the yoga studio and make the most of the longer days by going for a walk after work.

Why not invest in a FitBit and keep track of your movements!

 4) Make Good Food Choices

Meals prepared at home are more likely to have less calories. Pack your lunch at home, make your own dinners and stock up on healthy snacks.

Be mindful of your daily lifestyle choices, try to incorporate vegetables, salads, lean proteins and nutritious snacks into your day.

Never go grocery shopping on an empty stomach! Avoid the sugary aisle altogether and really take note of what’s going in. Instead of reaching for that 3pm coffee or sugar hit, why not stir in your Pineapple Vida Glow to your water instead. This way you’ll get a hint of sweetness whilst also treating your hair, skin and nails.

5) Dry Body Brush

Your skin is your largest organ, and it’s also an organ of elimination like your kidneys, liver and colon. Impurities and toxins are excreted through the skin daily. Dry body brushing helps keep the pores clear and the skin active to assist in the cleansing process.

As we age, our bodies become less effective at shedding dead skin cells. The build up of dead skin cells can result in dry and leathery looking skin. Full body exfoliating is great, and the motion of dry body brushing also stimulates the sweat and oil glands, providing more moisture for the skin. It also keeps the skin looking fresh and free of breakouts.

Body brushing is also an effective way to stimulate the lymphatic system and remove excess debris, allowing the skin to breathe and absorb oxygen. Dry skin brushing also increases blood circulation, which helps to contribute to healthier muscle tone and better distribution of fat deposits, also known as cellulite.

It’s so simple, on dry skin brush over the hand with a natural bristle brush then with long sweeping strokes work from the feet, up the legs, front and back of torso, up the arms and down the neck, chest and upper back, always towards the heart.
